Where are the Homers?

As our dozens of readers have probably noticed.... the Homers have been out of commission for quite some time. What's going on with them you ask? Well, we could make excuses about new jobs, new children, mental instability, possible incarceration, an extended drug binge, etc... but we can't lie to you. The truth is this.... We just went fishing. See? Here is a totally real picture from the trip.... which included myself, John Elway, Carmelo Anthony, Moe Cheeks and Andre Miller.... Forty Duece and Brainz were taking the picture. That's why we weren't blogging.... Why don't you believe me??? No, that is NOT photo-shopped! We always go on vacation with those dudes! So now that we're done with our totally sweet and successful fishing trip... I'm going to start blogging again. Just to forewarn you, some of my posts may have nothing at all to do with Colorado or sports... But until we get Deadly Hippos up and running again, I need a place to talk about shit like drinking, girls, the movie "Predator", racist natural disasters, and whatever the hell else I feel like talking about. July Quick Hits

Well, we've nearly endured the worst 3 days in sports for 2007, so I thought I'd throw some links out there to keep you busy. Since there hasn't been any meaningful sports played since before the All-Star break. I guess the Tour de France is on, and there is NBA summer league, but w/ a foreigner leading the Tour and a ridiculous amount of fouls encouraged in summer league, are those sports really that watchable right now? Please let Brittany Spears into CU this year! Here's a little something for that person who has just about everything. Who can resist a bobblehead of themselves? That's right NOBODY. Neil Woelk turns in a great column on CU's rules infractions. Some great research and perspectives included. Karen Morrison -- Oklahoma grad, attorney, kinesiology instructor, CU women's hoops assistant coach, compliance coordinator, CU associate athletic director and now NCAA flunkie. Na, attention to compliance really didn't seem to be her strength did it? NCAA must not really care whether you do your job or not? Hmm, think the website is ncaa.org if you're lookin' to randomly create and enforce dumb rules. I think you'd have to live in Kansas or Missouri to work for the NCAA, so that's probably not all that appealing. 10 fouls? How long has that been a summer league rule? 10? Really? Did this go into effect this season? I've never heard that, nor do I like it. Why would the NBA encourage fouls in this way? The last few years players committing hard fouls have been punished unfairly. It seems like 5-6 fouls is plenty, especially if they are trying to protect their players. 10 fouls is stupid. You can get your point across with one foul. At least that's how Stewie and I see it! Greg Oden is out of the NBA Summer League 2007 w/ tonsils. Fantasy Football is right around the corner. You Know It's Amazing!...4

Yeah! So, I'm back from Maui and peelin' like a mofo bro! That sweatproof, waterproof sunscreen --- don't believe the hype. Reapplication, I'm thinkin' that's the key. Having never surfed in my life I gave it a shot in Kihei. I wouldn't say conditions were ideal, but it is shallow and there are some waves for beginners. It took just under 2 hours. The best part was standing up on the board and actually surfing a little bit. The worst part was all of the rocks that were under the shallow water. Honestly how good of an idea is this? Slushy Gutter comes through w/ a nice hip/hop beer mix. I've gotta question the Miller Chill beer call though. I tried that stuff, and it sorta tastes like somebody dumped a warm margarita (w/ salt) into a cerveza. In fact, I'm actually kind of happy somebody busted into my garage and stole the other 9 from me. Serves them right, they can keep that schwetty balls beer. However, I do have an issue w/ them taking my dozen Pacificos. Payback is hell, and they better hope I don't catch 'em slippin'. Stealin' another man's beer is a serious, serious deal. Though I'm sure there are high schoolers and young college students out there that have to resort to that sort of thing to get a beer these days. What Rockies Bandwagon? I'm w/ JT and the majority of the fans here in Denver. I have yet to jump on the bandwagon since the Rockies brought the MLB to Denver. In case you hadn't noticed there aren't a whole lot of native Coloradans. Everybody here is from somewhere else, so it is completely normal for them to move here w/ other loyalties to older and more established teams. Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Tigers, Dodgers, and it goes on and on. Nobody that can afford a Rockies ticket grew up w/ them. I do admire the Rockies fan in Denver though, and I pull for them more often than not, however I've got my problems w/ the hometown team. I do consider myself a baseball fan and enjoy watching the game, I can name the Rockies starting line-up and rotation without too much trouble. Fantasy baseball has even worked its way into my life the last few seasons, unlike fantasy football, I don't even have any money invested in my team. My fantasy baseball league is purely for fun. Unlike previous years, not one Rockie is on my team. I don't even really follow the Rockies boxscores. I've watched college baseball coverage more often than I watched the Rockies in the last 4 seasons. My family had tickets to opening day (an annual occurrence), and we chose to stay out at the bars rather than go to the game. If that doesn't pretty much sum it up, I'm not sure what does. I'll have another whole column on my disappointment in Rockies baseball at a later date. Speaking of college baseball, I really wish CU would cut the crap and bring back baseball. If you've paid any attention to Nebraska's baseball program, you'd know that they routinely get all the best players from Colorado and around the Midwest. Of course their head coach is Mike Anderson, who went and played at UNC. When did we let Nebraska start having everything? How can a recruit look at CU and look at NU and make the decision to become a Husker? I just can't understand it. I guess if they are recruits for rifle, bowling, baseball, softball, or wrestling then Nebraska has a slight edge because they actually field teams for those sports. The NCAA sux. Probation, really? Walk-ons / non scholarship players are on the team man, they're sacrificing more than any of the scholarship players and they gotta pay full price for their 'training table' meals when the on campus dining halls are open too? How's that for the almighty NCAA supporting teams and sportsmanship? At least the penalty wasn't paid to the NCAA and was donated. Is there a more overpaid jag-off than Miles Brand? You know it's amazing, when I was on scholarship I'd eat at the training table, and then go back and eat at the dining hall afterwards. The ol' double dip. Am I going to receive a bill in the mail from the tax exempt association that oversees the dining halls on the CU campus? Will CU have to donate more money because of that? Are the assoc. AD's at CU more honest than everywhere else? I gotta believe that much larger violations are occurring elsewhere, and that they'll go unpunished. When has CU caught a break? What's up w/ Ceal Barry reporting it (the right thing to do) in 2005, and the NCAA just getting around to putting us on probation now? We could have won just as many games without those couple of scholarships the last few years. Our former teammate and 2 time All-Star Chancey Billups just opted out of his contract. Status = unrestricted. Sounds like the Pistons are gonna lock him up w/ another contract this summer. CB has been a great fit for Detroit and is the face of the franchise at this point. You know it's amazing when ESPN is reporting on eating contests. Kobayashi is day to day w/ a jaw injury? And I saw his face on SportsCenter like 10 times on Monday, man we're hurting for sports news at this point aren't we. Football can't start soon enough. Once this site takes off, we're sponsoring a Bocce ball league and we're gonna run it May - Aug. and it's probably gonna make a few highlight reels. Consider yourselves warned. How long will it be before the Broncos can go after Lance Briggs? I just don't think they've addressed the LB position enough after Al Wilson's departure. I'm gonna say between weeks 5-8. That is after San Diego, during the bye week, and all the way through the Pittsburgh game here. After Fast Willie Parker goes for 162 yards and 2 TD's I think that the Orange & Blue will be beggin' for a glimpse of previous years run defense. Who knows maybe they start talking about adding "Tank" Johnson to the d-line after that? Elway Day. 07/07/07 this is Denver and the guy is a legend here, do we need another reason. Do yourself a favor and toast a couple to Johnny Elway next Saturday.

Quick Hits - The Sequel

Forty Deuce is back up in this piece, and he's lookin' to waste a little of your time w/ some quick hitting links and some random grumbling and rumbling. So please turn up your volume and lets start off strong w/ one of my favorite links to get you prepared. I'm really glad they finally started the NBA Finals. When did Marc Jackson start talking funny all the time? I noticed alot more accent, kinda like they voiced over him w/ Kenny Smith or something. Watched quite a bit of the game, and after reading JT's column yesterday, I came to realize that I like the Spurs and dislike the Cavs! I used to think I hated Tony Parker because he was a Frenchy (born in Belgium). But now I really respect his uncanny ability to score in the paint at his size. And although the Big Fundamental's whining bugs me on occasion, I really do find myself pulling for him. And I've come to realize and accept why he was selected #1 in the 1997 NBA draft, and I somehow failed to be contacted by any teams. I will maintain that I'd have been a way better investment than Olivier Saint-Jean (aka the original Frenchy, aka Tariq Abdul-Wahad). Isn't that guy still getting paid by the Mavs? Or are the Nuggets still payin' him? Bet he could bench 185 back in 97', and that's what sold him to the Sacramento Kings. FYI- Jacque Vaughn will always be a spazz. Scott Pollard, Drew Gooden, and Daniel Gibson are just way too annoying to be placed on the same team. It has to be the Kansas and Texas thing? I listen to a little sports radio in the afternoons. Normally I'll listen to Dan Patrick, Scott and All - Off the Hook, and then toggle between Doug Gotlieb's - The Pulse, and Irv & Joe...now w/ Jim 'Okaaay' Armstrong too. Anyhow, I was listening to a FOD and heard him say that Kevin Durant couldn't bench 185 lbs. once. Did I hear that right? How's a skinny dude like that gonna survive in the Association for 82 games (and w/ the Sonics, I'm not even gonna worry about the playoffs). I know he's got long arms or whatever, but come on, 2 plates and a couple quarters, and you can't bounce that off your chest once? To be fair, Greg Oden didn't even attempt to bench due to his previously injured wrist. So it does say something that Durant attempted it at all. My honest opinion on this is that I think it's a little suspect. Yes, we're talking about a 19 year old kid who's 6-9 and 215 lbs. w/ a crazy condor-like wingspan of 7-4. And it sounds like Kevin Durant has a tremendous work ethic and is genuinely a good person from articles and comments I've come across. There's no question that he's the 2nd pick in the draft. The individual numbers he put up over the course of his only season in the Big XII were nothing short of amazing. It must be noted that the Big XII wasn't really that tough last year, but Durant did put up really good numbers against T. A&M, KU, and OSU. He played 35 games last year, and suffered some minor injuries over the course of the season. Now he's gonna be playing every night against guys just as long/quick/tall and he'll be giving up 20-40 lbs. to them. They still allow moving screens and some physical contact in the NBA, so I think he's gonna have a hard time rebounding and getting shots around the paint. With 10's of millions of $'s in his bank account after being the second pick, and having endorsements, I'm supposed to expect him to become more motivated? Right now I'm predicting season 1 for Durant to be a more Morrison-like (sans the mustache) 12-14 ppg. 4-5 reb. & under 37% FG% in a more Camby-like 63 games played. But damn, he goes to Texas, and he doesn't know that he's gotta work out for teams, and that the weight room is kind of important? Several sources mentioned that this happened to TJ Ford as well? Isn't that more reason for Texas to correct that issue w/ a little bench press training? I mean really? He would probably be pressing 225 a few times if he spent any time on the weight bench at all. And the Sonics (as they did w/ Robert Swift), will prepare Durant for the wear and tear of an NBA season as well as they know how. Maybe the bench press isn't totally relevant to the evaluation of a basketball player. And it certainly doesn't have anything to do w/ basketball knowledge and skills. It's frankly a measure of strength and conditioning. It raises a red flag that Durant wasn't willing to invest that time to improve in that area. And wise coaches and GM's will take note of this miniscule detail because we're talking about a possible make or break move for an entire franchise. I mostly blame Rick Barnes for everything related to this because it appears that he's not a very good coach (X's and O's, as well as in preparation for the NBA). Any recruits reading this please take note! Jeff Bzdelik worked 17 seasons in the NBA and he is the most qualified person in the college game today to prepare you for a basketball career after college. Consider Colorado, please, just come for a visit and see for yourself. Label me a 'hater' or whatever, but I question whether Durant can play 82 games next season, I predict that he'll hit the wall and be susceptible to injury. This probably works out fine for the Sonics because they're used to having lots of injuries over the course of a season. Do you think they'll resign Rashard Lewis? Cause I see Durant being the same sort of player, or maybe like Marvin Williams w/ a better perimeter game. Todd Jones is 39 friggin' years old, and Treavor Hoffman is older than that! Throw in Mariano Rivera and Bob Wickman, and you've got a quartet of old-ass closers. Add the oldest Japanese closer known to man in Takashi Saito (37) and I don't know what that says? Add up all those saves 15 + 17 + 6 + 10 + 16 and you've got 66 saves on 6/6/07. Figure in Al Reyes, Tom Gordon and Alan Embree 14 + 5 + 5, and you've got 90 saves and 20% of the 448 saves in mlb to date were made by guys 37 or older. I don't even know what to say about that? This is a bad sign for any player, see if you can recognize what's wrong w/ this picture. JT made some amazing points with his last few observations on the basketball scholarships that have not been renewed by coach Bzdelik up at Colorado. This could really be its own column so I won't say much else on the subject right now. Otherwise, Quick Hits would move past 15,000 words and classify as printable bathroom reading material. And you can't really do that w/ links now can you? Still searching for that Pyramid Curveball Seasonal Brew at Colorado liquor stores. You may or may not remember my link to it in the first edition of Quick Hits. Since then I've learned that my peeps in Iowa are drinkin' it regularly. Now, I thought Colorado had a little more beer variety than Iowa, but I must be sorely mistaken. I've checked Santa Fe Spirits, Wine Sellers, and a couple places online, and so far, NADA. But that won't deter me, I'll let you know when I hunt it down, or else break down and order some online. Speaking of beers, I really liked the idea set forth on the Slushy Gutter site. The article is titled: There's No 'I' in Team (or Beer) If they are coming up a little short of the 5,280 beers, I'd be happy to help out! Well, as long as this is turning into a beer drinkin' post I might as well give a shout out to the Bent River Brewing Co. in Moline, Illinois. Had a couple of their beers at some Midwest League minor league baseball games, and I must say, "That's some good stuff." And kudos to the Quad City Swing for having it flowin' at the ballpark, and for mixin' it up nightly w/ a different 'Get Bent' brew. You Know It's Amazing...3

You Know It's Amazing, a couple weeks ago, there was a poll on AM950 The Fan's website, and I saw the voting results and just had to comment. Here is the question they asked: Which school has had the best basketball team in the past 10 years? The choices were the 4 division one schools in Colorado. Air Force, Colorado, CSU, and DU. Air Force received 60% of the vote? Are you kidding me? Best team? That's one team in the last 10 years. Voters on that poll must have suffered from extremely short term memory. 100% of the vote should have gone to the 1997 CU BUFFALOES! And it isn't even close... It might be a close race for 2nd or 3rd, but sure as hell not first. Yes, I'm biased because I was a member of that team, but seriously there isn't another answer. Look at the rosters, strength of schedule, conference, wins on the year, performance in the NCAA tournament, players who moved on to play professionally, if the teams were to have been frozen in time and were pitted against one another in a simulated video game, whatever. In every comparison Colorado comes out first, and I can't believe anyone would argue otherwise. Was this a topic of conversation on AM950 while I was out of town that week? If I'm hosting a radio show I'd have to lobby for Third Person Thursdays. Forty deuce thinks tons of people would love to listen once a week to people talking in the 3rd person. Remember 'The Jimmy' from Seinfeld? Forty deuce thinks that a show like this might lead Forty Deuce to have split personalities. Forty Deuce just likes to think about an hour of 3rd person speakers honoring the great Rickey Henderson. Thank you Random Burrito for the Ricky Being Rickey section. Waiting until Thursday to start the NBA Finals is moronic and appeared to be 'the' topic of discussion on this mornings sports talk radio shows. Well, that and Roger Clemens' groin. To me, the NBA Playoffs are not as good as they used to be. The time between games just kills my interest level, especially these days as my patience level has drastically eroded over time. And what used to be a 'hard' foul in the NBA a few years ago is now grounds for a game suspension. What the hell happened to toughness, perseverance, and even patience? Ya Know, It's Amazing, 10-20 years ago you never heard phrases like fatigued groin, male depression, flagrant foul, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), it is what it is, micro-fracture surgery, qb rating, pitch count, Olympic bronze medal in basketball, and all the rest. We also didn't have entertainers checking in and out of rehab like it was the Bellagio. I'm here to tell ya, (if you didn't know it already) our society is officially soft. That doesn't mean that there aren't a few throwbacks living amongst the masses, but it does make me pretty sad.

You Know It's Amazing...2

Welcome back to the second edition of You Know It's Amazing! It has been awhile but I guess that's what a busy family and work life will get ya... I've caught bits and pieces of things in the sport world and here's what I have to say about that. I'm now fully convinced that the Nuggets point shaved in that game against the Kings. I mean seriously, they still won the game but just didn't cover. The Maloofs musta had some coin on that game to pay for the buy-out of Mussleman's contract at season's end. I haven't investigated any other Kings games to see if any other games are suspicious but I'm sure this is what happened at the end of the season. The Nuggets season is officially over and so we're gonna change up the look of the site now to a more festive Rockies sorta theme. Besides, anybody watching the Jazz - Warriors series must be aware that the freaking Jazz are trying to rip off the Nuggets light blue luster. And then they go the extra mile and use 'UJ' as their logo? That really bothers me, they've got purple, green and yellow to work with and yet they go and paint everything light blue and have the fans wear light blue t-shirts? I've seen the NBA fine teams for much less. Oh, what's that? The Rockies are in last place in the West and the bullpen blew another game... If online betting were legal I'd have taken that under on the 76 total wins for Colorado's major league team. Just watching the Jazz vs. Heat game and though I really want GSW to win the series, I know that they can't. They have better and more athletic talent, but they are just not disciplined and can't hit free throws. Plus, D-Fisch is a playoff gamer, Sloan gets way more out of his players, B-Diddy's back is extremely tired from carrying GSW this far, the officials are letting Boozer maul whomever is in the paint, and GSW just gives up too many easy baskets. The degree of difficulty for GSW shots is twice as high as that of the Jazz. Though the games in Utah were way closer than I thought they would be, I gotta go w/ the Jazz in 5. Tried Dill Pickle sunflower seeds today, and you know what? Dill Pickle sunflower seeds are what we thought they were. They're what we thought they were! And that's why I bought them! Everybody's seen them. I've seen them on the shelf for about 3 weeks, and that's why I finally bought them! And we let them off the hook! If you wanna crown 'em, then crown their ass! But they are what we thought they were! Exactly what I thought they were. So what if I ate the whole bag! So what! Can't get enough Dennis Green? Played a little golf last weekend. And I'll provide my review of Murphy Creek right here. Enjoyed playing the course. It was early and wet when I played and even though those are my two least favorite conditions to play under, I had a great time. The course is 6878 yds. long from the blue tees, and there are plenty of bunkers where you'd like to hit your tee shots. Turns out wet sand isn't that enjoyable to hit out of. Walks from the green to the next tee were at times a bit long but maybe that is because my shoes and bottom of my pants were wet from chasing my erratic drives and golf ball hunting excursions. There is some water on the course, and you can get into trouble by hitting into it. But I was able to scramble out of trouble on the front 9 to score alright. The back 9 was a different story as the course wore me out, and I put up a snowman or two. My favorite part of Murphy Creek was the condition of the greens, or maybe I'm just saying that because I putted really well. At one point I even got a little cocky and backed it up w/ a 30 footer for par. Right before putting I told my buddy "Go ahead and pull the pin, I'm gonna run this one in anyhow." But like the song says They say I'm cocky, and I say What? It aint braggin' mothaf*%$@ if ya back it up! At Jewel and C-470 the course is a ways out there, but worth checking out. It was $40 for 18 holes if you walk the course. The beverage girl doesn't show up until around 9:30 for you thirsty golfers.

Good afternoon! Just wanted to throw some links at you after a busy fun filled sports weekend. Check 'em out if you already haven't. Anybody go to the CSU spring game? Didn't look like much of a crowd from this video. Checkout this poor 4 year old boy who thought after seeing CSU last season that the safest place at a game would be behind the endzone. Only he and his Pops under-estimated the sievelike Ram defense. He has stitches but he can take a hit. Colorado Homer JT looked to be right on w/ his preview of the Denver vs. San Antonio series. Bruce Bowen, couldn't hold Melo or A.I. And it sounds like Nene had a stellar game that may have left the Spurs looking for answers to Maybyner Rodney Hilario. Ah, now I have to try a new Pyramid Beer because of this site. A cool site BTW, just skimmed it, but I'll be back there for the reviews and baseball articles. Please let me know in the comments of this post if you find a sixer of this Curve Ball Ale in the Denver Area before me. I like beer. It has been awhile since this came out, but I still listen to it every day on my ipod. Now that's what I'm talking about! If Coach Hawkins can't fire you up for college football season, I don't know who can! Thanks JT for passing this one along. As softball season just started up last week, be sure to read his story about types of softball players and leagues. It's good, and I wouldn't lead you astray. Checkout today's stuff about the new and quite affordable Starbury shoes. If you like cartoons, Drew Litton at the Rocky Mountain news always has a good one. Though I'm not in agreement w/ this one - Drew Litton Nugs Finally, take a peek at some stats that player agents frequently look at, when trying to evaluate how much they might be able get for NBA players. Of course we're looking at playoff mode, for the Nuggets, but plus/minus stats are being used more and more. Thank you 82games.com I'm not sure what basketball dorks would do without you. You Know It's Amazing...One

Welcome to Colorado Homers, and thank you for checking out our first week w/ an actual site. This is going to become a recurring column and a restart of one of my old columns when I was over at realgm.com. Here at CH we've had a chance to be around lots and lots of Colorado Sports and quite a bit of national sports, and we plan on sharing some stories and perspectives on anything and everything we find interesting. This column title originated from a phrase former-Buffs hoops coach Ricardo Patton used to use in the late 90's. He often used it in reference to just about anything. Which is what I'm planing to do here as sort of a gimmick to touch on anything that might be on my mind. This way I don't really have to organize any information and it can kind of just spew out into the blog... I got this from reading Bill Simmons Page 2 column and haven't stopped thinking about it, especially in these last few weeks of the NBA. Was the 'fix' in for the end of the Sacramento game on April 4th? A couple sources to reference before you make your decision on this one. Remember, the Maloofs whom own the Kings and the The Palms Vegas hotel/casino are also involved here. As if they don't already have enough money. BTW, the spread was -7 on the game. The Angry T Blows the whistle on possible point scam 4th qtr. Play-by-play from NBA.com In Nugs, and fantasy hoops news, Carmelo has been turning the ball over w/ much less frequency over the last week or so. Thank goodness, and lets hope this carries over vs. the stingy Spurs. The DN can't survive a 8-10 TO night from the father of Kiyan. Speaking of 'possible' cheating. It's my opinion that any MLB player who has taken, is taking, or will take steroids, HGH, Andro, etc. should be labeled a cheater and be banished from major & minor league baseball. Haven't decided if it should be a 2 strike rule or not, one year/season suspension followed by closely monitored testing? Or just ban them for life from the get go. There is not shortage of baseball players looking for a shot at the big leagues, let those guys who work hard and have paid their dues get a well deserved shot. Allowing cheaters back in just casts a shadow over the game that used to be known as America's Pasttime. Barry Bonds is coming to Coors Field?! Is there any excitement? The single most disliked player in baseball since...hmm, that's a tough one, I'm gonna have to say Ty Cobb. Why is Bonds strike zone so much smaller than reg. players, and why do the umps make it that way? The way he shows up umpires and treats everyone in the game, you'd think that they'd be just waiting to punch him out on anything resembling a strike. It really is unfair for your strike zone and genitalia to shrink simultaneously. It should be proportional to head size or body mass or something no? Letters to the top of the knees. Ah, ya know it's amazing, why are we discussing cheaters again? When was the last time you saw a father playing catch w/ his son/daughter in the front yard? I've seen a few weekend ballplayers on local baseball fields, but never see it any other time. How do you think Roy Halladay got to go 10 innings vs. one of the best teams in baseball the other day? It sure as hell wasn't from sitting around writing blogs or playing video games all day, that much I can tell you. Speaking of being outside. Do people in Colorado play hoops outdoors? I really like the off-season moves the Broncos have made...especially snatching up another former CU TE in Daniel Graham. And w/ Travis Henry at RB, I think Cutler and the rest of the Denver offense is stacked w/ plenty of weapons. CU Hoops looks like they lost one of Bzdelik's assistant coaches to the head Air Force job. Sounds like they may have been impressed w/ what he wore to the informal exit interview. You know it's amazing, that has to make you wonder if you're ever gonna be able to pull off the polo shirt and sweat pants when you reach the half century mark? Is that you Joe Harrington? Can you actually skirt the no denim rule at Vista Ridge by rockin' sweatpants instead? I'm curious if that would fly...maybe during the week. "Uh, Ms. Duke, we're enforcing the no denim rule, we're gonna have to ask ya to leave." The VA Tech shootings occurred Monday, and every news website had links begging for videos w/ footage to be uploaded. Isn't that taking technology too far? Shouldn't the authorities be alerted 1st and formost if you have this kind of evidence? IMO - The gen. public and news stations shouldn't have access to this footage. And I don't think the death toll should be reported like an auction bidding war. 22, 29, 30, 31... As for coverage of this tragic and indescribable event I thought CBS news (cbsnews.com) had the most informative and updated news on Monday. And I do think NBC correctly handled (immediately informed the FBI) the package they were sent from the shooter. I can't wait for the weekend playoff games to get started. The International Sleeps w/ the Fishes...

The International golf tournament is no longer a tour event. The PGA will not stop in Colorado this year, and it's quite sad to see this event go. Where was the headlining sponsor, the die-hard golf fan, the Colorado sports community? I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how this announcement missed becoming a topic of conversation with the local media. This happened in February, and I didn't hear a thing about it. I was going to the website to check out dates and who had committed to play in the tournament and that was no where to be found. Look at this site, and tell me it doesn't make you sad: The International Where have all the golfers gone? I know they're out there, I know they're everywhere. Don't believe me? Just try and get a tee-time in Colorado the day before a nice weekend. Why do you think they advertise those golf trips to South Carolina, Vegas, and even Nebraska? Yeah, I'm telling you there are golfers aplenty in this state. Enough to support at least one PGA tour event per year. Does it get better than 4 days of watching the best golfers in the game hit the little white ball further than they do at any other tour stop? What about the quirky modified Stableford scoring system? Double bogey or worse gets you -3, and absolutely anyone can go out and fire a -54 for 18 holes! No more busing and walking around Castle Pines. Who won't miss drinkin' beers and yelling "You da Man!" at Tom Pernice Jr.? I mean come on, we took it for granted in most of its 21 years, and now look what happened. Say it ain't so. Colorado is certainly going to miss The International, and the PGA will miss coming to town. I guess we'll have to adjust to regular scoring and head South to Phoenix to watch a golf tournament from here on out. If you want to be part of a gallery and follow, Ernie, Vijay, Davis, Phil, or even Phil's wife, you're going to have to travel elsewhere or attempt to simulate it from your couch. In the end, I guess it wasn't profitable enough and the event couldn't get a large enough sponsor or sponsors. Many past sponsors names come to mind, but the PGA must be bigger business and more exclusive than we knew. $5.5 million in prize money last year, and The International never seemed to hit it's stride. There were plenty of first rate golfers coming to Colorado, but they never could find the right tour date to entice everybody.
